Application guidelines
Interested faculty are required to first consult with the appropriate Gateway Academic Director to discuss the proposed activity and determine feasibility.
Narrative statement
The narrative statement should be no more than two pages in length and should include the following:
- A brief overview of your proposed activity, clearly stating your goals.
- Details of participating individuals from IU and external institutions. Please include the roles each of these participants will play in the activity.
- The benefits of hosting the activity at the Gateway
- Anticipated outcomes (e.g., in terms of furthering collaborative research).
Budget
Valid expenses may include (but are not limited to):
- Travel
- Accommodation
- Catering and hospitality
- Supplies and printing
- Honoraria (excluding IU faculty and staff)
- International wire transfer fees
The budget should include subtotals for each category of expenses, and details of matching funds (if any).
Endorsement letter
A recommendation of the proposal should come from the head of the unit (e.g., your department chair, dean, etc.).
