Delegations foster IU’s partnerships

Through his extraordinary vision and work, Herman B Wells, Indiana University’s 11th president and first university chancellor, shaped the global future of the university by forging international alliances, dramatically expanding foreign language offerings, and recruiting internationally renowned scholars and researchers.

Today Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie and Vice President for International Affairs David Zaret regularly lead delegations of IU faculty and staff to foster the university's engagement around the world. During these trips, the delegates meet with university and government officials to strengthen IU's educational reach and broaden international opportunities for students and faculty, as well as to engage IU alumni in the advancement of international initiatives.

Spotlight on IU delegation to Italy and Poland

In late May and early June 2016, IU President Michael A. McRobbie led a university delegation to several of the oldest and most dynamic cities in Italy and Poland. The week-long trip included the celebration of the 50th anniversary of IU’s study abroad program in Bologna, Italy, and the 40th anniversary of IU’s partnership with the University of Warsaw. The delegation also met with top leaders in government, education, arts and culture, and business, as well as prominent IU alumni in an effort to strengthen the university’s longstanding connections to Europe and expand overseas opportunities for IU faculty and students.
